Frequently asked questions
- Does INZ use these conversion tables?
- No. INZ sets its own minimum scores per test — for the SMC principal applicant that is IELTS 6.5, PTE 58 or TOEFL 79. The Pearson and ETS concordances are statistical equivalences, useful for comparing your scores.
- How old can my test result be?
- No more than 2 years old when you apply, and the test must be taken in person at a test centre. Home editions are not accepted.
- What are these conversions based on?
- Pearson's July 2025 PTE↔IELTS concordance study and ETS's official TOEFL↔IELTS comparison table — the current versions. Older tables (e.g. PTE 65 = IELTS 7.0) are superseded.
